I've used Adobe Audition for many years. I've tried others, but I have a specific workflow that works well for me in Audition, so I really don't want to take the time to figure it out on another software.
Audacity is a good, free, audio editing software if you wanted something you don't have to shell out money for.
I pay $22/month for Audition. To me, it's been worth it.
